Gordon M Ellis, Sr., 83, of Saucier, MS , formally of Cherry Creek, NY, passed away August 1, 2020 in Gulfport, MS. Gordon was born in Leon, NY April 20,1937 to Elliott J Ellis Sr. and Mary Catherine (Wells) Ellis.
Nothing was more important to Gordon than his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Janice J (Shearer) Ellis, whom he married February 6, 1960 at Our Lady of Loreto RC Church in Falconer, NY. Besides his wife of more than 60 years, Gordon is survived by his son Gordon Ellis, II of Cherry Creek NY and his daughters, Shelley Lincoln (Gary Howe) of Cherry Creek NY and Ginger Neel of Falconer NY. Six grandchildren, Gordon M(Crystal) Ellis III, Danielle J Lincoln, Derrick E Lincoln, Jeffrey M Ellis, Garrett M (Taylor) Neel and Dakota Ellis. Five great-grandchildren, Carley Ellis, Xander Lincoln, Madison Ellis, Aubree Ellis and Wyatt Ellis. Brother, Jerome (Cheryl) Ellis of Leon, NY. Sisters, Shirley (Ed) Kota of Gowanda, NY, Theresa Frost of Perrysburg, NY and Nancy (Ron) Rudny of Jamestown. Brother-in-law, Kenny (Connie) Shearer of Mayville, NY and Sister-in-law, Donna (Tom) Derby of Saucier, MS and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his loving rescue dog, Molly.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Elliott J Ellis Jr, John Ellis Sr, Douglas Ellis Sr and Laurence “Butch” Ellis and nephew John Ellis Jr.
Gordon attended South Dayton Schools and proudly served 4 years with the United States Marine Corps. Gordon worked construction with the last 34 years as a heavy equipment operator with LeRoy Lime and Crushed Stone until his retirement in April 1999.
He was a Lifetime Member of the Cherry Creek Fire Department, and a Lifetime member of The Pine Valley VFW Post 2522, where he served 2 terms as Commander. He was also a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, Loyal Order of The Moose, Chautauqua Lake Automobile Club, Union of Operating Engineers Local #17 and Laborers Union. Pat member of War Veterans Recreation.
Gordon was a true blue fan of the NY Yankees, the Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabres. He also enjoyed NASCAR racing and old cars. His favorite pass time was mowing his lawn. He didn’t care where he lived as long as he had a garage and a lawn to mow!
