Karen Lynn Mack

Karen Lynn Mack (Walters), 53, of Gerry went to her heavenly home with the Lord very unexpectedly on Sunday October 17, 2021.

Karen was born February 12, 1968, to Raymond L. and Margaret L. (Richmond) Sheldon, Sr. at Lakeshore Hospital in Irving, NY. Karen was raised in Cherry Creek and graduated from Pine Valley Central School in 1986. She attended JCC and earned an associate degree in Child-Care in 1988.

In addition to her parents, Karen is survived by her beloved fiancé of 21 years, Jon M. Walters. Other survivors include: Stepson Ryan Walters, cherished and deeply loved grandchildren EvaLee Walters and Willow Walters; brothers Raymond L. Sheldon, Jr. (Dee) and Thomas E. Sheldon (Amie) of North Port FL, Terry L. Sheldon (Teresa) of Cherry Creek, NY; sisters Jill Kenney (Jim) of Conewango Valley NY, and Betty Jo Westling (Joe) of South Dayton, NY; beloved nieces, Jonie, Lucinda, Marissa, Cassandra, and Monica; beloved nephews Joseph, Jermie, Richard, Dominic, Jacob, Zachary, Dustin, Robert and Aaron; beloved great nieces, Maggie, Daisy-Mae, and Charlotte; beloved great nephews, Logan, Kaleb and Sage. She loved and adored them all in her special way. Also survivors include many uncles, aunts and cousins along with so many dear and close friends. Karen was loved by many.

Karen began her career at Bush Industries in 1997 and was currently employed as a Consumer Service Representative.

Karen spent her spare time supporting Veterans through her participation in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She would do anything and everything she could to support Veterans. She was a life member of Pine Valley Memorial Auxiliary No. 2522 in Cherry Creek joining under the eligibility of her maternal grandfather Warren Elvers. Karen was currently the Auxiliary Secretary having previously served as President on the Auxiliary, Chautauqua County Council and District (2016-2017) levels.

In addition, Karen held many appointed Chairmanships. She was this year’s Veterans and Family Support Program Chairperson (2021) for the State of New York.

Karen enjoyed many things throughout her life but especially spending time with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She enjoyed taking them places so they could explore and learn about the world together. She often sang, “You are my Sunshine” to them.

Karen enjoyed shopping, scrapbooking, traveling, country music, especially Florida Georgia Line and Tim McGraw. Her other interests included NASCAR, Harley Davidson, and of course, the Buffalo Bills. She enjoyed going to car shows, parades, and anything that involved supporting Veterans.

Despite any of her own circumstances or what she was experiencing, Karen was always there to lend a helping hand to whomever needed it. She was always there in a heartbeat to help her family and friends. She had a heart of gold and wore her heart on her sleeve. She supported everyone in her life even if she couldn’t give them anything. She always let others know she loved them and supported them in whatever they were doing. Her favorite saying was, “You are my sunshine.”

The family will receive friends at DiStasio Funeral Home, 478 Route 83, South Dayton, NY 14138 on Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 4 – 7 pm. Pastor William Kenna will officiate the funeral service at 7pm. The VFW Auxiliary will host a Memorial Service for Karen at the funeral home at 6:30.

Burial will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Memorials in Karen’s memory may be made to the VFW National Home for Children.
