John C Illig

John C. Illig, 72, of Cattaraugus, NY passed suddenly March 2, 2018

John was born April 19, 1945 in Jamestown, NY to Charles and Marian Illig.

John was the owner operator of Illig Chevrolet-Pontiac which he took over from his father Charles in 1970. He was an active member of St. Mary’s Church in Cattaraugus, an avid fisherman, gourmet cook and a dear friend to many.

Loving husband to Patricia; cherished father to Matthew (Nichole) and Christina ( Richard) Campbell; beloved grandfather to McKenna, Kelcie, Tyler, Connor and Claire; loving son to Marian;  brother to James, Stephen and Peter along with his sister Christina Rudge also survived by several nieces and nephews.

John was pre deceased by his father Charles.

Visitation will be private.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday 11AM at St. Mary's Church 36 Washington St. Cattaraugus, NY with a luncheon to follow. Father Joseph Porpiglia will be officiating.

John will be sorely missed by all.

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. Although I hadn't see John in many years his passing struck me quite hard. He and I were great friends back in the "good old days" at JCC in the early 60's.
He was always a great guy with a wonderful sense of humor. May God welcome him.
