I know that things didn' t go well after my moms passing..(not my doing) I completely understand why we were never mentioned in his obituary, but may I say that I am personally grateful to him for taking care of my mother in her final years. He was a dear man, I loved him and enjoyed taking with him on the rare occasions when I made It home. Please know how sorry I am, and it took me so long to learn of his passing.

To all of the family,
I go back to the 60's at the Wesleyan church. My parents and Erling and Katie were friends. (Mr and Mrs. Shields). Tom and I were in school together and I believe Sunday School. Dennis was friends with my sister I believe. Great memories of your dad's humor and your mom's as well. We saw him many moons ago. He had also became acquainted with a friend of ours Rod Mileham.
We give our deepest to to all of you and your families. To Craig, Dennis, Tom, Kathy and Kathy's daughter.. all of you.
Unable to be at funeral home as I have a a apt. in Buffalo.
God Bless!!!
Evie (Shields) Sievert, Vickie (Shields) Grant, and Faith (Shields) Delong
Will be thinking of you!!

Uncle Earl was a wonderful man and will be dearly missed. When I was a little girl, he seemed like a giant to me. His hands were the size of catcher's mitts, and his booming laughter could rattle the windows. He had a heart as big as he was. He and my mom had a special connection, and he always wrapped her in a bear hug when he saw her (one time, even cracking her ribs). I'm sure that he, my mom, Uncle George, and Grandma & Grandpa Carlson are having a heck of a reunion in heaven. God speed, Uncle Earl!

Our mother and Grandmother, Betty Earle, and Erl shared lunches daily from Meals on Wheels at the Free Methodist Church in South Dayron.
Though she is in a nursing home she remembers him and his beloved dog fondly.
Please know he touched our hearts with his presence.
