He was recognized for a lifetime of volunteering, becoming a member of the Pine Valley “Wall of Fame”. He was an honorary South Dayton volunteer firefighter and was a dedicated sign-in volunteer who registered tractors for the South Dayton Fireman’s Antique Tractor Shows. He was also a long-time supporter of both boys and girls Pine Valley sports, where he coached Pine Valley Pee Wee/Midget Football and South Dayton Babe Ruth Baseball, even encouraging his daughter Cheryl and others to play baseball long before it became the norm. He also was a former Grand Master of Villenova Odd Fellows.

He is our greatest hero. He will be sorely missed and never forgotten.

The family asks that any donations in his memory be made to the South Dayton Fire Department, Hospice Cattaraugus County or a charity of your choice. The greatest donation of all is volunteering your time to make your community a better place.

You were such a great man Ab! I remember when you were town cop and my friends and I (teens) would run and hide between houses because it was after curfew and you seen us. We also were the ones that threw the semi old pumpkin on your police car lol
My thoughts and prayers for Marily, your kids, and grandkids, other family and friends.
Rest In Peace Ab.

I remember that he was quite a dancer. Had some great times at the Legion dances. In his role as our town police he would bring my Grampa home from the bars. RIP Ab.
